Ladislav Krejci could be targeted by Leeds again in January as he moves closer to leaving Wolves after a tough start to the season.

Krejci was one of the few positives to emerge from Wolves' wholly disappointing 2025-26 campaign in the Premier League.

The Czech Republic international put in a string of fine showings for the Old Gold despite their eventual relegation to the Championship.

He caught the attention of Leeds and was heavily linked to Elland Road during the summer window, but stayed at Molineux to help Wolves return to the top flight.

Krejci's commitment to the cause has been questioned by Wolves fans, with injury issues limiting him to just four appearances so far this term.

Krejci registered three goal contributions in 32 appearances for Wolves last season, mainly featuring as a centre-back but also providing cover in defensive midfield.

The left-footed defender was among the best centre-backs in the top flight for distance covered, accurate long balls, line-breaking passes and interceptions per 90.

It came as no surprise to see Leeds interested in his services as Daniel Farke aimed to improve his backline, but a move never materialised.

Krejci has impressed when he has featured for Wolves this season, but he sat out of their huge derby clash on Sunday as a precaution before joining up with the Czech national team this week.

The 27-year-old's decision to rule himself out predictably angered many Wolves fans, and new reports have claimed that he will be fit to feature for his national team over the next two weeks, so the issue cannot be that bad.

Krejci could find himself out of Cesar Peixoto's starting eleven after Nasser Djiga and Toti Gomes impressed against West Brom, and a January exit certainly seems likely if he continues to upset the apple cart in their push for promotion.

Leeds are pretty set for central defenders as it stands, but lack strength in depth in midfield, especially if they want to push for Europe this season.

Ilia Gruev is one of the Whites' most prominent back-ups in the middle of the park, yet the stats show that Krejci would be a clear improvement on him in January, having mainly played there in his career until joining Wolves.

The Old Gold star made more successful passes per 90 than Gruev last season, while he won more ground and aerial duels, had more touches in the opposition box and was dispossessed fewer times per 90 too.

He also made more interceptions, blocks and clearances than the Leeds midfielder, while being dribbled past fewer times per 90.
