Leeds should trigger Martin Dubravka transfer contingency after Elland Road deadlock
Leeds United can sign Martin Dubravka as a free agent in the upcoming transfer window after he leaves Burnley.
The Slovakia international won't be part of the Clarets' squad for next season after being released from Turf Moor.
With the Lancashire side playing in the Championship in the 2026-27 campaign, the 37-year-old shot-stopper won't be part of their plans going forward.
Leeds recently announced Illan Meslier's departure, while they're still in talks with Karl Darlow over a new contract, and looking at the uncertainty in the goalkeeping department at Elland Road, Dubravka may be the perfect bargain option for them.
Considering the apparent deadlock in negotiations between the Whites and the Wales international, Daniel Farke may be left with Lucas Perri and Alex Cairns as his only options in between the sticks soon.
The West Yorkshire outfit must have a contingency plan to sign a new goalkeeper in case Darlow leaves, and Dubravka feels like the perfect option to come in as a backup, considering his Premier League experience.
Daniel Farke transfer priority doesn't change at Leeds United
Even if Darlow signs a new contract at Leeds, they should be looking to sign a quality number one to make further progress next season.
There's no doubt Darlow contributed immensely to the Whites' Premier League survival, but an upgrade over the 35-year-old would be ideal at Elland Road.
Perri was brought in as number one last summer, but after falling down the pecking order, it would undoubtedly be best for the 28-year-old Brazilian ace to look for pastures new in the coming weeks.
Farke has ambitions of re-establishing the West Yorkshire outfit in the English top flight and a safe pair of hands between the sticks would certainly go a long way towards realising that goal in LS11.
Karl Darlow inevitability looms at Elland Road
Football Insider has covered recent reports that Manchester United and Tottenham are interested in Darlow, whose contract at Leeds expires at the end of June.
It wouldn't be surprising to see the Welshman opt for a move to a top club in the summer, even if it's as a number two.
There are no guarantees over the veteran shot-stopper's place in Farke's starting lineup next season and he may decide to be a backup option at Old Trafford or in North London instead.
