Leeds tipped to crash after Daniel Farke signs 'amazing' new contract
Daniel Farke's success could suffer after putting pen to paper on a new deal at Leeds United in 2026-27.
That is according to former Manchester City financial adviser Stefan Borson, who exclusively told Football Insider that players' form often drops after being awarded with new contracts.
With two wins and two draws from four games, the Whites are currently sitting third in the Premier League table, only below Arsenal and Man City.
Leeds have a huge chance to keep their place heading into the international break, with a home clash against Crystal Palace on Sunday, 20 September.
Football Insider understands that senior figures at Elland Road will sit down with Farke during the international window, hoping to agree new terms with him soon.
It is the least that the German deserves, especially after taking Leeds to an FA Cup semi-final at Wembley Stadium, but the romance may not last much longer.
Daniel Farke is in 'brilliant position' to negotiate new deal
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, Borson admitted that Farke does deserve the new deal, but suggested that Leeds' form could suffer after the deal is announced.
"It happens a lot with players where the performance in that year of negotiation is noticeably impressive," he explained.
"They sign the new contract, and there's a reversion to the mean. But clearly, given what's happening on the pitch, he's in brilliant position to negotiate, and that's what he's going to do.
"So they're not going to want to rock the boat right now. I'm sure he'll sign a new contract. They seem to have a bit of momentum, Leeds.
"I think if you look, there was a lot of confidence in that game against Newcastle. There just seems to be a bit of a buzz around how they're playing and how they're performing.
"That's amazing for a manager to be having a negotiation whilst that's the the context and I suspect they want to get that signed pretty quickly on the basis of that, and so will Leeds, so everybody's happy."
Can Leeds United keep up their form?
It has been an incredible campaign from the Whites so far, even with the 6-3 defeat to Chelsea at Stamford Bridge in the Carabao Cup.
Leeds deserve to be sitting third in the Premier League table, but it is unlikely to be form that Farke's team can keep up for the entire season.
