Leeds told ‘£20m’ Oumar Solet offer will be accepted amid contract twist
Leeds can sign Udinese's Oumar Solet for a cut-price fee of £20million this summer but face stern competition from other Serie A clubs, sources have told Football Insider.
26-year-old Solet has emerged as one of the best performing centre-backs in Italy at Udinese since joining from Salzburg in January last year.
He scored three times in 38 appearances across all competitions last season as they finished 10th in Serie A.
Leeds have registered their interest in Solet this summer as Daniel Farke aims to bolster his centre-back options.
As I revealed on the latest edition of Football Insider's Transfer Insider podcast, they will be able to seal his signature for around £20m, but must move quickly ahead of other rivals.
Inter Milan and Juventus are also tracking Solet as it stands, with a move away likely as his initial contract is set to expire in June 2027.
Leeds can agree Oumar Solet deal for lesser fee amid contract uncertainty
Farke has already moved to bring in a new centre-back from Italy this summer, with Tarik Muharemovic arriving from Sassuolo for around £34m after Pascal Struijk's exit.
The Whites manager remains keen to sign another player in that position, however, with Solet possibly set to join soon.
Speaking on the Transfer Insider podcast, I explained: "His contract situation at Udinese is something that would be very enticing for Leeds, coming into the final year of his deal, and they will be hoping that they could maybe land the centre-back for a cut-price fee of around £20million.
"They are keeping tabs on the situation, but it's not just Leeds who are interested in Solet, you've got interest from Inter Milan and also Juventus. If both of those clubs were to firm up their interest in Solet, it could make it difficult for Leeds to try and win the race for a signature."
Nico Elvedi open to Leeds move amid ongoing centre-back search
Leeds have also looked towards the Bundesliga for a new defender this summer, with Borussia Monchengladbach's Elvedi also on their radar.
Sources have exclusively revealed to Football Insider that Elvedi is keen to join Leeds this summer as he looks to make the next step in his career.
Monchengladbach are resigned to losing the 29-year-old this summer, as his own contract also expires next June.
73-time Swiss international Elvedi has made over 350 appearances for the German side since 2015, with 33 league outings last season.
