Leeds United 'concerns' over Harry Wilson explained - 'It's not a surprise...'

Leeds United supporters have raised concerns about Harry Wilson's performances in the early stages of the new season.

The 29-year-old arrived on a free transfer from Fulham at the start of the summer, with the Whites having beaten off a number of rivals to get a deal over the line.

However, he has yet to provide a goal or an assist after three games in the Premier League, with questions beginning to be asked about his influence on games.

Former Man United chief scout Mick Brown told Football Insider that Wilson will take time to adjust to his new surroundings and any dips in form are "not major issues".

Despite that, he explained that the Wales international's form at Elland Road should not come as a surprise, as he also endured difficult patches in his time at Fulham.

Wilson is very much a confidence player, and after enjoying the best season of his career last time out, he is still adapting to life at his new club.

Football Insider revealed back in June that Leeds had made a "big" offer to Wilson in an attempt to beat their rivals to his signature, and have high hopes for his role in their side.

Meanwhile, after the wide man started the last two Premier League games on the bench, Daniel Farke reassured that he believes he will eventually show his class.

While there have been frustrations over a slow start to the season, Wilson recored an assist in the 6-3 defeat to Chelsea, and could now be ready to kickstart his Leeds career.

"To be honest, it's not a surprise that Wilson has had a slow start at Leeds," Brown told Football Insider.

"He had a great season for Fulham last time out, probably the best of his career, but he's always been a bit inconsistent and can go through spells where not much happens.

"It's not a major issue, some players are like that, and he seems to be at his best when he's confident and getting involved in everything.

"Sometimes it can take a while for that to click at a new club, and that can raise concerns for the fans, for the manager and for the player himself, but it won't be a big problem.

"This is just how Wilson is, he can have quiet spells, but he can also go through spells where he's scoring and assisting every week, so you have to take the rough with the smooth."

What is the latest on Daniel Farke's contract?

Wilson's difficult start to the season has contrasted what has been a strong run of form under Farke, before the League Cup defeat to Chelsea ended their unbeaten run.

Despite some on-pitch frustrations, there is a largely positive feeling around Leeds, and that has led to calls for the manager to be offered a new contract.

Football Insider revealed on 6 Septmeber that Leeds are planning to hold talks with Farke during the upcoming international break as they aim to extend his stay.

Questions had been asked about the manager's future throughout the summer, but any suggestions of a new deal were batted away, with the club's focus set elsewhere.

As things stand, the 49-year-old will be out of contract at the end of the season, but Leeds are keen to reward him for the fine job he has done in the Premier League.
