Leeds United set for 'fantastic season' after 'huge' news

Published on:

Leeds United are on course to enjoy a hugely successful season after Daniel Farke reached an agreement over a new contract.

The Whites have enjoyed a strong start to their Premier League campaign, having lost just one of their seven games so far this season, with optimism growing at Elland Road.

Farke insisted at the end of last season that the club were putting ambitious plans in place for the future, and those plans look to be taking shape already.

Former Man United chief scout Mick Brown told Football Insider that getting Farke tied down to a new long-term contract will come as a "huge" boost to Leeds' plans.

After establishing thesmelves in the Premier League last season, Leeds are now aiming to reach European qualification, which is firmly on the cards after their strong start.

Reaching an agreement with Farke was seen as the next step towards their progress, and the focus can now return to getting the best out of the team on and off the pitch.

Why have Leeds offered Daniel Farke a new contract?

Football Insider revealed last month that Leeds planned to push ahead in talks with Farke during the international break, and it has now become clear positive talks were held.

They have reached an agreement in principal to keep the German at the club until 2029, securing his long-term future in a clear display of their backing and support.

After what has been an excellent 12 months at Elland Road, there is now optimism that they can push on further, and Farke's new contract will come as a boost to everybody.

"Leeds have wanted to get Farke tied down to a new contract for a while now," Brown told Football Insider.

"So the news that they've reached an agreement will come as a huge boost to them, and not just to the club but to the fans and the players too who I'm sure will be delighted.

"Leeds are in line for a really fantastic season at the moment, and a lot of credit has to go to Farke for that as well as the owners who have gone about their business very well.

"They signed some top-class players in the summer, they stood by the manager when a lot of people didn't, and they're not in a good position to reach their ambitious goals.

"Now that things have been agreed with Farke, they can focus on the team again and Leeds will be looking to continue their strong start."

What is next on Leeds' list of priorities?

After they reached an agreement with Farke, Leeds will now switch their attention towards other priorities, with the January transfer window already being eyed.

While they did some excellent business during the summer, there is a feeling that certain areas of the squad are still in need of improving when the mid-season window opens.

Football Insider revealed on 14 October that Farke is pushing Leeds to sign a new striker in January as he is detetmined to strengthen his attacking options quickly.

The German boss is understood to be keen to add as many forward options as possible to his squad in order to strengthen his team in the next nine months.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Lukas Nmecha are the only out-and-out strikers in the squad at the moment, with further additions now emerging as a priority.
