Leeds United's Dominic Calvert-Lewin will be left disgruntled over what happened over the international break, sources have told Football Insider.

The English striker was handed a chance to impress England manager Thomas Tuchel after he was selected for the four Nations League fixtures.

However, with Harry Kane in the squad, the 29-year-old was barely handed an opportunity.

Tuchel awarded the Leeds talisman just 15 minutes of game time over England's four matches.

As I revealed on the latest edition of Football Insider's Transfer Insider podcast, the situation with the Three Lions will have left Calvert-Lewin frustrated.

But, the feeling at Elland Road is the opposite as to what Calvert-Lewin may be feeling.

Leeds' feelings over Dominic Calvert-Lewin's international break shared

Calvert-Lewin was snubbed from England's 2026 World Cup squad, but he was handed a chance to prove Tuchel wrong.

However, the German opted to not award the Leeds ace with substantial minutes over the recent international break.

Instead, he was utilised as a last-ditch option in matches, only coming on in the final 10 minutes of the opening and final game, a situation which will have left the striker unhappy.

Speaking on the Transfer Insider podcast, I explained: "I don’t think it’ll be frustrating for Leeds, maybe frustrating for the player; he’s not had more opportunities, but as you said, it’s pretty hard to get inside the England team when you’ve got Harry Kane, captain and talisman, ahead of you.

"He’s obviously in Thomas Tuchel’s thoughts, and that’s the most important thing for him and obviously for Leeds; probably key for him that he didn’t go away on international duty and potentially pick up an injury, which has happened to quite a few other players at Premier League clubs as well.

"So yeah, I don’t think Leeds will be frustrated about it. Calvert-Lewin might be a bit disgruntled, but look, the key for Leeds and for him is to stay fit, and they’ll be hoping that he can continue where he left off before the international break."

Leeds receive best possible outcome

Calvert-Lewin went away with England and was still part of high-level training sessions with top players.

That will be a positive for Leeds, with his match sharpness assuredly being kept up despite few minutes.

There will now be limited risk of fatigue for a striker who has well-known injury issues, although, Leeds have tempered those concerns since he arrived.

That should leave Daniel Farke better placed to manage Calvert-Lewin's workload as the Whites look to have an ambitious season.
