Mykhailo Mudryk to Leeds United transfer update
Mykhailo Mudryk is "desperate" to leave Chelsea in the coming days amid interest from Leeds United, sources have told Football Insider.
The 25-year-old is keen to play regular football this season following his return to action after he saw a ban for breaching anti-doping rules overturned following an appeal.
His availability on loan has placed a number of Premier League clubs on alert, notably including Leeds, but Chelsea have so far rebuffed any advances from their rivals.
As I revealed on the latest edition of Football Insider's Transfer Insider podcast, Leeds have not yet called off their pursuit of Mudryk given his willingness to make the switch.
Daniel Farke is keen to strengthen his attacking options in the closing stages of the window, and the Ukraine international has been identified as a leading target.
Should Leeds continue to fail in their pursuit, however, he is still expected to leave Chelsea with a number of Premier League and European clubs looking to do a deal.
Could Leeds United sign Mykhailo Mudryk?
Former Man United chief scout Mick Brown told Football Insider on 3 August that Chelsea are planning to send Mudryk on loan amid interest from multiple English clubs.
Leeds are the first of those interested clubs to have made a move for the Ukraine international, and while Chelsea have rebuffed their attempts, a deal could be reignited.
Much will depend on where the Blues plan to send Mudryk, but with the winger pushing to leave in the closing stages of the window, Farke's side remain very keen.
Speaking on the Transfer Insider podcast, I explained: "It's a difficult one for Leeds to try and get a deal done for Mykhailo Mudryk, but I don't think they've given up just yet.
"The player is desperate to get back playing after that frustrating spell in the sidelines as well, but Chelsea aren't considering a permanent exit right now.
"They would prefer a loan so he can go out and get games and minutes under his belt as well.
"But look I think it's going to be difficult for Leeds, they obviously made those two offers which were rejected and obviously those talks broke down with Chelsea."
What is Chelsea's updated plan for Mudryk?
After having rejected multiple advances from Leeds in recent weeks, Chelsea are looking to send Mudryk elsewhere in their efforts to secure him first-team football.
Premier League clubs including the likes of Coventry City and Brentford have shown an interest in the winger, while European clubs are also firmly in the race.
Meanwhile, Brown told Football Insider that Strasbourg are currently the front-runners to sign Mudryk, with Chelsea keen to send him to their sister club this month.
Given the relationship between the clubs, negotiations are expected to be relatively straightforward, and would give the Ukraine international the chance to play regularly.
Meanwhile, Chelsea would be able to keep a close eye on his progress with a view to his return in the future, with shared data between both clubs providing an exclusive insight.
