Leeds are working on unexpected Daniel Farke follow-up plan - Insider

Leeds United are likely to extend Daniel Farke's imminent new contract even further if they achieve their goals in the next 12 months.

The surprise twist is according to former Everton chief executive Keith Wyness, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, who believes that the Whites could add additional years to the manager's new deal within the next 12 months.

The German is to have his stay at Elland Road extended, and has reportedly reached an agreement in principle with the club for a new contract lasting until 2029.

However, Wyness believes that the 49ers will already have one eye on adding to that deal, provided that Farke leads the team towards the European places this term.

The West Yorkshire outfit have made a bright start to the new campaign, sitting seventh after the opening seven Premier League games.

Leeds' only loss so far has come against the reigning champions Arsenal, and that has prompted the club hierarchy to move to shore up the boss' future.

Daniel Farke contract length right for 'both parties'

Everton’s former chief Wyness – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – believes that Farke's imminent two-and-a-half-year extension is a good fit for both him and the club at the moment.

Leeds are about to experience a period of change with the building work at Elland Road, and are also hoping to kick on towards the top end of the Premier League table.

Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider's Inside Track podcast, Wyness explained why Farke's new deal could be reassessed sooner rather than later.

"It suits both parties. Leeds is an interesting case right now with the whole stadium development going on at the same time," he said.

"A lot of things are not going to be as usual. And if Farke can steer them through this period and keep them going in the way that they're handling it right now, then great.

"I think they'll renew him probably in another year's time; they'll look at it and say, let's make it go for another two years after that.

"So this is the right decision right now for both parties, and I think it's good. There's some stability now and so get back to focusing on things on the pitch which again reasonably well."

Sources: Leeds star Lukas Nmecha open to move on pre-contract agreement

Lukas Nmecha open to pre-contract move

Football Insider revealed earlier this week that Leeds striker Lukas Nmecha would be open to a return to the Bundesliga in the coming months.

The frontman has interest from FC Koln ahead of January, alongside several other top-flight German sides.

Sources say that Nmecha will consider the possibility of signing a pre-contract agreement to return to his homeland, ahead of his contract with Leeds expiring next summer.

He has served as the understudy to Dominic Calvert-Lewin throughout his time in England, and Leeds will not consider selling him mid-season unless they can bring in a replacement.
