Sources: Leeds accelerate Nicolo Tresoldi deal after what scouts saw
Leeds United are plotting a move to sign Club Brugge star Nicolo Tresoldi in the upcoming transfer window, sources have told Football Insider.
The 22-year-old has shone for the Belgian outfit so far this season, and caught the eye of watching scouts as he scored a hattrick against Inter Milan in the Champions League.
Daniel Farke's side are eyeing the addition of a new striker in 2027, whether that's in January or next summer, and he is now said to rank high on their list.
As I revealed on the latest edition of Football Insider's Transfer Insider podcast, Leeds are among Tresoldi's many admirers who have taken note of his recent performances.
However, any suggestions of a January transfer are likely to be ruled out, with Club Brugge extremely reluctant to lose their star man mid-way through the season.
This comes as Leeds are stepping up plans to sign a new striker, and have been keeping a close eye on Tresoldi's progress as they could look to beat rival clubs to his signature.
Why are Leeds keen to sign Nicolo Tresoldi?
Football Insider revealed on 14 October that Farke is pushing for Leeds to sign a new striker in the January transfer window to provide another option to lead the line.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin is the clear first-choice at Elland Road, but given the lack of depth behind him, concerns have grown surrounding the options available to Farke.
Leeds now see Tresoldi as a leading target in that position given his performances so far this season, and are set to keep tabs on his displays with a future move in mind.
Speaking on the Transfer Insider podcast, I explained: "I'm sure there'll be a lot of clubs looking at Tresoldi, and Leeds are certainly going to be among them.
"He obviously really caught the eye and his reputation soared earlier this month when he scored that hat-trick in the Champions League against Inter Milan.
"He's a top player, he's done very well for Club Brugge, but Club Brugge aren't entertaining any offers for Tresoldi and definitely not in the January window, they want to keep hold of him.
"Come next summer, if he continnues his exlpoits for Club Burugge, there will be a number of clubs who are looking at him.
"Leeds, as you said, are in the market for strikers, so he is somebody who's on their radar and who they could make a move for if he does become available."
Which other strikers are on Leeds' radar?
Tresoldi is far from the only striker being considered for a move to Leeds, with the Elland Road club keeping tabs on a number of potential targets across European football.
Farke has been clear that he wants to add a new centre-forward to his squad, preferably in the January window, and scouts have been working hard to identify their options.
Football Insider revealed on 14 October that Leeds are interested in signing Rennes striker Esteban Lepaul and have been closely monitoring his performances.
Everton are also among Lepaul's admirers, and both Premier League clubs could make moves to tempt the striker away from Rennes when the January window opens.
However, the Ligue 1 outfit are understood to be "relaxed" about the interest in their frontman, as they have him tied down until 2030 and do not plan to let him go.
