Leeds United are standing firm on their stance that Gabriel Gudmundsson will not be sold this summer, sources have told Football Insider.

The 27-year-old enjoyed a strong first season at Elland Road where he was able to establish himself as a crucial part of Daniel Farke's squad which successfully stayed in the Premier League.

After securing survival in their first season back in the top flight, Leeds are now keen to build on their progress, and keeping their best players has become a priority.

As I revealed on the latest edition of Football Insider's Transfer Insider podcast, Leeds have no plans to sell Gudmundsson and are prepared to rebuff any advances.

This comes as a number of Premier League rivals are believed to be keeping tabs on the left-back's situation following an impressive season at Elland Road.

Gudmundsson arrived at Leeds from Lille for just £10million last summer, and it would take a significantly higher fee to begin a conversation about his future.

Could clubs make a move to sign Gabriel Gudmundsson?

Football Insider revealed on 5 July that Leeds are bracing for interest in Gudmundsson as clubs were keeping a close eye on his performances with Sweden at the World Cup.

However, the left-back still has three years left on his contract at Elland Road, placing the club in a strong position with regard to his long-term future.

Given the level of growing interest in his signature, Leeds are aware they may have to field offers for him, but they have no plans to allow him to leave.

Speaking on the Transfer Insider podcast, I explained: "Leeds don't want to lose anybody that's part of Daniel Farke’s first team squad, they've reluctantly let Pascal Struijk leave to join Brighton.

"Gudmundsson is a key player for Daniel Farke, he is undoubtedly the first-choice left-back for Leeds United at the moment.

"He's under a long-term contract having arrived last summer from Lyon as well so yeah I don't think they would welcome or entertain any offers for Gudmundsson.

"Leeds are looking to build and improve on last season so that means keeping hold of their best players and that's what Daniel Farke will be demanding with Gabriel Gudmundsson."

Which clubs are interested in signing Gudmundsson?

There is no shortage of suitors for Gudmunsson this summer, as clubs have been impressed by what they have seen in the Premier League and at the World Cup.

Despite Leeds being relatively unopposed when they secured his signature from Lille just 12 months ago, there is now high-profile interest in luring him away.

Football Insider shared Stephen Warnock's claim in May that Gudmundsson is likely to attract high-profile interest thanks to his displays at Elland Road last season.

That has been followed by links with some of the Premier League's biggest clubs, including Chelsea, who are searching for a replacement for Marc Cucurella.

Meanwhile, Man United have identified left-back as a key area of the team to improve, and have been keeping tabs on Gudmundsson in case he becomes available.
