Joel Piroe has been an outsider looking in for the duration of Leeds United's campaign in the Premier League this season.

Daniel Farke has given the 26-year-old just 217 minutes of league football this term, all despite playing a key role in Leeds' promotion from the Championship, where he notched 26 goal contributions.

After the departure of Patrick Bamford, many at Elland Road expected the Dutchman to lead the line, but with Dominic Calvert-Lewin stealing the spotlight, Piroe has only ever been linked with an exit.

Leeds are likely to have summer plans already, and that is likely to include Piroe's future. But Farke may think twice before shipping him out following his display against Norwich City on Sunday, 8 March.

Joel Piroe sends a clear message to Daniel Farke

In what was just his second start since August, Piroe completely ran the show at Elland Road, topping off his performance with a fine goal in the 85th minute.

The attacking midfielder was allowed to stay on the pitch right until the final whistle, clearly enjoying himself on the pitch, and making those around him look even better.

Premier League survival is not yet guaranteed, so Piroe might still have a big role to play in the remaining games of the season, especially with Leeds in the hat for the next round of the FA Cup.

Rangers had been strongly linked with Piroe, but Farke may be rethinking the club's view on his future.

Leeds United star's full stats vs Norwich City can't go unnoticed

In 90 minutes, as well as bagging his goal, Piroe created two chances, had two shots on target, completed 100 per cent of his dribbles, made five recoveries and won 75 per cent of his ground duels [FotMob].

He was by far one of the most outstanding players on the pitch, which has only left more unanswered questions over why the playmaker has not been given more valuable minutes this season.

Leeds have upcoming games against Crystal Palace, Brentford and Man United, but his performance is still unlikely to have earned him a spot in the lineup for the Premier League.

The Whites are yet to learn of their opponents for the next round of the FA Cup, but Piroe might be paying special attention to the draw, with that being his best chance of more minutes.
