Leeds 'more than happy' to trigger Jean-Matteo Bahoya buy option

Leeds United will not rush into a decision as to whether they trigger their option to buy loanee Jean-Matteo Bahoya, sources have told Football Insider.

The Whites signed the forward from Eintracht Frankfurt on deadline day, and have the option to turn his move permanent for an initial fee of £19.7million.

However, Daniel Farke and Co. are prepared to wait and see how the 21-year-old fits in at Elland Road, before making any long-term plans for him.

Nevertheless, sources say that Leeds will be "more than happy" to sign Bahoya permanently if he makes strong contributions this term.

The youngster had interest from a whole host of Premier League clubs this summer, but it was Leeds who ultimately won the race for his signature.

Bahoya notched three goals and four assists in the Bundesliga last term, but has yet to feature for his new club since his move.

Leeds moved quickly to bring Bahoya in as the replacement for Willy Gnonto in the final stages of the window, and they have high hopes for him this season.

The French starlet has caught the eye in Germany in recent years, and the Whites believe that his game will translate well into the Premier League.

Recent reports have suggested that Leeds are not entirely happy with the possibility of £4.3m in add-ons as part of any permanent deal.

However, it is understood that in reality, the fee is of little concern to the West Yorkshire outfit.

If Bahoya performs well for them across the campaign, then they have every intention of triggering their option to take him permanently, regardless of the final valuation.

Farke's side have needed support in the wide areas for several months, and they have now secured an exciting young attacking talent.

Willy Gnonto could yet make Leeds return

Football Insider revealed last weekend that Gnonto could yet force his way back into Farke's plans next summer.

The Italian recently joined Serie A side Fiorentina on a season-long loan, and they also have the option to buy him for £18m.

However, sources say that if the winger cannot do enough to convince Fiorentina to buy him, then Farke may be prepared to hand him a second chance at Elland Road next summer.

Gnonto had fallen to the fringes of the squad at Leeds, but the door is not yet fully closed on him long-term.
