Leeds United are expected to spend another £100million on new signings in the summer transfer window.

That is according to former Manchester City financial adviser Stefan Borson, who exclusively told Football Insider Daniel Farke’s side could target either fringe players or young stars from some of the top Premier League clubs.

Leeds are edging closer to securing their place in the top flight for next season after picking up some huge results in recent weeks.

The Whites currently sit 15th in the Premier League table, six points above third-bottom Tottenham heading into the final four games of the campaign.

If they manage to stay up, Leeds will be looking to strengthen again in the summer window.

How Leeds' owners will approach summer transfer window

49ers Enterprises backed Farke with around £100m of signings heading into this season.

It has been revealed Leeds are targeting four new additions in the upcoming window as they look to kick on again this summer.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, Borson discussed 49ers’ plans to ramp up their investment at Elland Road.

“It will be steady as you go,” said Borson.

“I don't think they're going to go crazy because we all know the risks at the other end, so they'll do it in a measured way. But I would definitely imagine that they're going to put some more money into the system.

“Maybe that involves buying one of these fringe players we've spoken about from Manchester City, Arsenal, Liverpool or Manchester United.

“Maybe that's going to be their target, either a youth player or a more established player that we can pick off and be our key player going forward, where we can move our sort of salary cap a bit higher and our level of investment a bit higher. Maybe that's what they're going to do.”

Why Leeds could target overseas signings

Borson revealed Leeds could also target overseas players, providing them with potentially more value for money than Premier League stars.

“The more likely focus will be who can we pick out from Spain, Germany and France as a sort of smart recruitment,” said Borson.

“That’s the sort of thing that most people are always trying to do. That's the more likely.

“But I would think they’ll probably spend another £100m to try and build a squad this summer.”

Leeds’ next fixture sees them take on already-relegated Burnley at Elland Road on Friday (1 May), where they will be hoping to boost their Premier League survival hopes.
