Sources: Leeds line up Harry Gray move after approaches from 'top-end' clubs
Leeds United are keen to send young striker Harry Gray out on a season-long loan in the coming weeks, sources have told Football Insider.
The Whites are currently "weighing up" their options when it comes to choosing the right loan club for the 17-year-old, with a whole host of EFL sides keen to bring him in.
Several "top-end" League One clubs have made an approaches for the young forward, with Leeds set to prioritise his likely minutes when it comes to choosing a suitor.
Gray remains extremely highly rated at Elland Road, but it is expected that he is still a few years away from first-team football, especially since Daniel Farke wants to add more attacking options this summer.
The West Yorkshire outfit are now hoping to boost his experience and development, but are being careful to ensure they choose the right club for him.
Gray spent the second half of last season in League One with Rotherham United, where he managed three goals and an assist in 20 games.
Harry Gray excelling in Leeds U21 side
Gray has long since been earmarked as a top young talent at Elland Road, and he looks set to eventually follow in the footsteps of his older brother Archie.
He gained his first prolonged taste of senior men's football at Rotherham last term, with that loan stint coming after a prolific run of form at U21 level.
Gray struck 11 goals in just 13 games in all competitions for the Whites' academy team last term, including six from just seven appearances in Premier League 2.
He has already become a hugely dangerous player at that level of football, despite being four years younger than some of the players he has come up against.
Leeds are now keen to help him take the next step and hone his game at senior level by spending a full season away from his parent club.
Gray's goalscoring record in youth football means that he is not short of potential suitors this summer, and translating that across to senior action is the next step for him.
The Whites want to bring in a new number one ahead of next season, and have now got the 34-year-old in their sights.
Pope is about to enter the final year of his contract at St James' Park, and Newcastle are willing to let him go for as little as £10-12million as a result.
However, Ipswich Town are also pushing to sign the former Charlton Athletic man, meaning Leeds do not have a straightforward route to a deal.
