Wilfried Gnonto could push for a move away from Leeds United due to his lack of game time, sources have told Football Insider.

While the winger still has two years left on his contract, it is understood that Leeds wouldn't stand in the way of the 22-year-old's departure should a suitable offer come in.

The Whites signed Gnonto for around £3.8million in the summer of 2022, and just four seasons later, could accept anywhere between £15million and £20million.

Freiburg have taken a strong interest in Gnonto ahead of the summer window, and given Daniel Farke's limited use of the Italian youth international, Leeds' transfer chiefs might be happy to get a deal done.

Freiburg push ahead for a deal with Wilfried Gnonto

Freiburg have been linked with Gnonto ahead of this summer, and the Bundesliga club could soon have their transfer budget boosted should they beat Aston Villa in the Europa League final.

Football Insider understands that Leeds would be willing to accept a deal for the attacker, who regularly appears to be edging towards an exit. He has played key roles since handing in a transfer request in 2023, though.

He remains a fan favourite at Elland Road, but under Farke, Gnonto clearly isn't seen as a starter this season, coming off the bench in 18 of his 22 Premier League appearances so far.

The winger is clearly a talented player, even assisting that goal that secured Leeds' Championship title last season, but it just hasn't worked out for him during the club's first season back in the Premier League.

Leeds United winger appears to bid farewell already

Gnonto is not the only player who has struggled for minutes this season, with Football Insider understanding that Leeds have already identified Joel Piroe's replacement.

Multiple players are expected to depart the current squad, and it would appear that the Whites' No.29 has already come to terms with his impending departure from Elland Road.

Gnonto took to Instagram following Leeds' final home game of the season, simply captioning his post, "Elland Road. Thank you," with many believing that this was a huge hint about his future.

Only time will tell, but interest in the youngster's signature is ramping up ahead of the summer months, and it would appear that Leeds are willing to cash in if given the opportunity to do so.
