Leeds United have been hit by a striker transfer blow as Leicester City have taken signing target Ali Reghba on trial, Football Insider sources understands.

Reghba, who plays for League of Ireland side Bohemians, enjoyed a two-week trial at Middlesbrough last month and he is thought to have impressed during his stint on Teesside.

The 18-year-old is highly sought-after with Leeds having expressed an interest in the Republic of Ireland youth international as they aim to beat a number of high-profile clubs, who also include Brentford, to his signature.

However, a well-placed source has told Football Insider that Premier League side Leicester have agreed with Bohemians to have Reghba on trial this week so that the can cast an eye over the teenager at close quarters.

Centre-forward Reghba is understood to have caught the eye during his stint at Leicester and has been training with Claude Puel's first-team stars.

Leicester have been so impressed by Reghba that they are ready to make an offer for his signature as they look to beat their rivals to the exciting young talent.

Reghba emerged on the radar of a number of clubs in England after scoring two goals on his debut for Bohemians in September and the player has also caught the eye on international duty with the Republic of Ireland's Under-19s.

Given Leicester's resources as a Premier League club, this is a major blow to Leeds' hopes of sealing a deal.
