Leon Osman believes Liverpool will need to “bolster” their squad as they prepare to play European football next season.
The former Everton midfielder believes the Reds’ squad depth or bench doesn’t compare with the likes of Tottenham.
Jurgen Klopp’s side are one win away from securing a place in the Champions League, with a clash against already-relegated Middlesbrough awaiting them on the last day of the season.
Regardless of what happens, Liverpool will be playing in either the Europa League or the most likely scenario, a return to Champions League football next term.
Osman offered his thoughts on the Merseyside club and stated in what area Liverpool need to improve on when comparing them with the likes of Spurs.

“You compare their bench to Chelsea, who have won the title, Spurs at times, Manchester City and their benches just don’t compare at the moment,” Osman told BBC’s Match of the Day 3.
“With the added addition of the extra games [next season], they are really going to need to bolster that squad.”
Klopp’s side recorded an emphatic 4-0 win against West Ham on Sunday, with the returning Daniel Sturridge getting on the scoresheet.
For that match, there were three youngsters on the bench for the Reds, from teenage duo Trent Alexander-Arnold and striker Ben Woodburn, with Marko Grujic another youngster watching on.
Both Woodburn and Grujic were given a few minutes on the field by Klopp, with his team already having the points wrapped up.
By contrast, Spurs secured the runners-up spot in the Premier League table as they beat Manchester United 2-1 in their final match at White Hart Lane.
On the bench for the home team were, the likes of Kyle Walker, Mousa Dembele and the big-money summer signing duo of Moussa Sissoko and Vincent Janssen.
