Everton favourite Leon Osman believes contract rebel Romelu Lukaku should stay at Everton because they get the best out of him.
Lukaku, 23, threw his long-term future up in the air after rejecting a fresh contract offer from the club, sparking talk that he could be set to quit Goodison Park this summer.
A number of Europe’s top clubs are understood to be keen to sign the Belgium international, but former Everton team-mate Osman is worried that he would have to change his style of play if quits Everton.
Speaking to Sky Sports on Wednesday, Osman said: “He will one day play for one of the top clubs in Europe. The sky is the limit. Whether he needs to do that at the moment, as an Evertonian, I’m not so sure.
“I think Everton are set up to get the best out of Romelu Lukaku. They play to get him goals and to get him running where he wants to be, but I’m not too sure how many teams are out there that would be similar.
“If he went to one of the so-called top teams in Europe, would they adapt to suit him, to get the best out of him, or would he have to change his game slightly? I don’t know.”
Lukaku has been in sensational form for Everton this season, charging his way to the top of the Premier League goalscoring charts with 21 goals from 28 appearances.
He has been in red hot form since March, netting nine goals from only his last six appearances, as well as one goal for Belgium during the international break.
But despite his contract snub, Everton are still confident that they can convince Lukaku to commit his future to the club, as they seek to fulfil their shared goal of achieving European football
