Tottenham are keeping close tabs on emerging French star Issa Diop, according to a report.

French sports publication France Football claim the north London club are closely monitoring the highly rated young Toulouse centre-back.

It is said that scouts from Tottenham and Arsenal attended the Ligue 1 clash between Paris Saint-Germain and Toulouse on Sunday night for the sole purpose of watching Diop, 20, in action.

The France Under-21 international was part of a backline that managed to shut out the prolific PSG forward line and secure a creditable 0-0 result.

This came just days after PSG, who are second in Ligue 1 and challenging for the title, had demolished Barcelona 4-0 in the Champions League round-of-16 first leg.

Diop has been a regular starter for eighth-placed Toulouse this season, making 21 appearances in all competitions, 20 of which have come in the league.

The young defender has progressed through the ranks for club and country, representing France at Under-16, Under-17, Under-18, Under-19 and Under-21 levels.

The 6ft 4in Frenchman has already made 41 Ligue 1 appearances despite his tender age and is widely regarded as a future star of French football.
