Levy is a 'liar' and Conte is latest Tottenham manager to be 'embarrassed' after news in last 24 hours - pundit
Frank McAvennie has slammed Daniel Levy for failing to bring any new faces to Tottenham this month.
The former West Ham hitman, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, reacted to the latest quotes from Antonio Conte.
Speaking on Tuesday (12 January), Conte admitted any incoming and outgoings this month are in the hands of the club and that he has made his feelings clear on where improvements can be made.
On Monday, Tottenham Insider John Wenham told this site it is "beyond concerning" that Spurs are yet to sign a new player this month.
McAvennie admits Conte sounds "annoyed" and slammed Levy for "lying" and failing to "cough up funds".
"Conte sounds annoyed," McAvennie told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.
"I don't know what he was expecting, this is what Levy always does, he's a liar.
"He lied to Mourinho which is why he never succeeded. Mourinho was not given the players he wanted.
"Now he's promised Conte the world and again he isn't coughing up the funds.
"Tottenham have needed a second striker for years and it hasn't happened.
"Conte will have only taken the Tottenham job on the guarantee that he gets to overhaul the squad.
"It looks like that won't happen. He says he's left it up to the club to get these deals done, good luck pal. He won't see any signings this month.
"Honestly, it's embarrassing. When are these managers going to learn that Levy will just say what he wants to benefit himself?"
