Lisandro Martinez has sent a clear message to Man United fans about how the squad plan on improving and pushing forward in the aftermath of their surprise draw at Liverpool.

After doubts over whether or not the game would go ahead due to the weather, struggling United managed to take a point from Anfield on Sunday (5 January) as they drew 2-2.

Martinez gave Ruben Amorim’s team the lead in the 55nd minute, but the Reds came back to lead 2-1 after goals from Cody Gakpo and Mohamed Salah until Amad Diallo scored an 80th-minute equaliser.

The point allowed United to climb into 13th in the Premier League table but extended their winless run to five games.

Martinez reflected on the result via Instagram by saying, “We have much to improve, and we will, but this fighting spirit and playing with pride for this badge must be our fuel.

“Thank you to the traveling fans for their support.”

Martinez and his teammates will be attempting to continue fighting for the badge when they return to action next Sunday (12 January).

The Premier League giants will be back in action against Arsenal in the third round of the FA Cup.
