Man United defender Lisandro Martinez took to social media to send a message to his teammate after his most recent injury setback.

The 27-year-old is set to miss the rest of the season and a good chunk of the next after tearing his ACL in the 2-0 Premier League defeat against Crystal Palace.

Man United fans were quick to speculate as soon as Martinez's injury happened, with many devastated about the potential ramifications for the rest of their season.

Martinez missed United's controversial 2-1 FA Cup fourth-round win over Ruud van Nistelrooy's Leicester as a result, with fellow centre-back Harry Maguire scoring the winner despite being in an offside position.

The former striker was furious with the decision after the game, telling ITV: “We are not defeated in Fergie time, we are defeated in offside time.”

“We are gutted. When you prepare for the whole week for this game and reacting after the Everton loss and put in a performance like that but it is decided on a clear and obvious mistake, that is unacceptable and unthinkable at this level.”

Lisandro Martinez watches on from the sidelines as Man United teammates show their support

Martinez had been a key player for United before his injury, starting 31 of his 32 games across all competitions, scoring two goals, and providing two assists in his 2711 minutes of action.

Several of his teammates, including Amad Diallo and Mason Mount, took to social media to wish him a speedy recovery, and they wore tracksuit tops during the warm-up sending a similar message ahead of the game with Leicester.

The defender took to Instagram to send a message to his teammates, saying: "Thanks for the show of support, guys! I'll come back stronger."

Ruben Amorim's attention will return to the Premier League as they travel to fellow strugglers Tottenham on February 16th.

United have lost just one in their last five games across all competitions, but all four of their wins came away from the Premier League.
