'Listen...' - Exclusive: Campbell drops Arsenal man verdict after Tony Adams' 'Lazy' claim

Kevin Campbell has defender Arsenal attacker Willian after his signing was branded “lazy” by club legend Tony Adams this week.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Gunners striker admitted that the 32-year-old has not been good enough this season but insisted he is not solely to blame for Mikel Arteta’s side’s poor form.

Willian arrived on a free transfer in the summer but his performances have disappointed with no goals and just three assists in his 16 appearances across all competitions.

Former Arsenal captain Tony Adams slated the Brazilian signing after the 2-1 loss at Everton, telling Stadium Astro he was a result of “lazy recruitment”.

Campbell questioned why the winger is not replicating the form he showed at Chelsea.

“Listen, Willian set himself very high standards at Chelsea and we are not seeing those at Arsenal,” he told Football Insider. “He will admit that himself.

“It is unfair to single him out because Arsenal are not playing well. Everyone seems to be mentioning Willian but it is a collective problem. It is not just one player.

“When one player is having a tough time, other players can help them out but we are not playing well enough at the moment. We cannot help him through it. It is a difficult time for him.

“Willian has such quality but at the end of the day Arsenal fans do not care about what he did for Chelsea. What have you done for us? He has to do it now.

“I understand there is a frustration among the fans. It is only natural when the team is playing this badly.”

In other news, it can be REVEALED that a senior Arsenal player has opened talks with the club over a new long-term deal.
