'Listen' - Pundit issues 'big' Liverpool claim after news on 'imminent' takeover

Fenway Sports Group will have no problem finding a “big boy” to buy Liverpool, according to Kevin Campbell.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Arsenal and Everton striker insisted Liverpool have everything going for them and have not hit their “ceiling” under FSG.

The ownership group released a statement on Monday (7 November), via the Athletic, confirming they would welcome new shareholders.

David Ornstein, who broke the story, told the Athletic Football Podcast earlier this week (8 November) claimed a takeover is not “imminent” but could be completed within the next “couple of years”.

Jurgen Klopp insisted, via the Mirror, after his side’s penalty shootout victory over Derby County in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday (9 November) that he was “fully committed” to the club regardless of FSG’s stance.

“Listen, I think the big boys will be coming in for Liverpool,” Campbell told Football Insider.

“Look at the football club, the history, the fan base, who they are and what they look like right now.

“It’s a successful club that still has room for growth, I think that’s important as well. I don’t think they have hit their ceiling, I still think there’s room for growth.

“I think it will definitely appeal to someone big and I think Liverpool will get top dollar, I really do.”

FSG took over Liverpool from Tom Hicks and George Gillett Jr during the 2010-11 season and appointed Klopp in 2015.

The affable German has guided the Reds to the Premier League title, the Champions League, FA Cup and EFL Cup.
