Liverpool in talks over top-flight assist king dubbed the new Ronaldinho - reports

Liverpool are in talks with Brazilian outfit Gremio over the prospect of signing 24-year-old Luan, according to a report.
Yahoo.Sport revealed that talks have begun with the South American club for the player who is thought to have a release clause in his contract worth £15.7million.
This follows a report in the Mirror in the summer that said Liverpool had been tracking the player dubbed the ‘new Ronaldinho’ for a year.
Luan was named the player of the tournament in the Copa Libertadores which Gremio were victorious in.
The Brazilian had made 131 appearances in total for the Brazilian champions bagging 36 goals and 22 assists in that time.
The two parties have previous, as it was reported in May last year that the attacker was wanted by the Anfield club, although Gremio chief Romildo Bolzan insisted there was no approach from Jurgen Klopp and co.
Football Insider verdict:
There is no smoke without fire as they say and with their being history suggesting a move for Luan to Liverpool, it would seem that there is some substance to this most recent claim. However, Luan is under contract with the Brazilian champions until 2020 so the Reds will need to match the release clause and more if Gremio are going to budge on the player. Similar in style to Ronaldinho and as clever as Coutinho with the ball, if Liverpool can get their hands on this Brazilian, they could be in for a pleasant surprise. Luan can play as a lone front-man but is also capable playing in the number ten role which means he can offer Jurgen Klopp a degree of versatility in attack.
