By Emma Sanders

Liverpool fans have been discussing the options available to Jurgen Klopp on Twitter in anticipation of Sadio Mane’s departure in January.

The wide forward will miss a number of Premier League fixtures when he is expected to join up with the Senegal squad for the start of the Africa Cup of Nations competition in January.

Mane could miss up to seven fixtures in the new year and, after several countries announced their squads for the competition this week, Liverpool fans are already preparing for bad news as Mane is set to be joining up with his country.

Klopp could use several players in the current squad as Mane’s replacement but the Reds have been linked with a possible January transfer for Dutchman Quincy Promes and some fans hope to see the deal sealed in order to replace Mane.

Others believe that fit-again Daniel Sturridge should be given an extended run in the starting XI.

Mane is a regular starter and he has already notched up 19 appearances for Liverpool this season, scoring eight goals and providing four assists.

Klopp has several options available after Daniel Sturridge made a return against Everton and youngsters Ben Woodburn and Sheyi Ojo provide further competition.
