Dominic Solanke was given just his fourth start for Liverpool in the Premier League on Saturday, and fans are still to be convinced he can hack it at the highest level.

Jurgen Klopp fielded a rotated side in the Merseyside derby, with more than one eye on the second leg of the Champions League quarter-final on Tuesday.

Liverpool are 3-0 up in that but Klopp was taking no chances and rested the injured Mohamed Salah and stuck Roberto Firmino on the bench.

In the absence of their star attackers, Solanke and Danny Ings were started, and Solanke had a glorious chance to make a huge impression early on in the first half.

The ball fell to him six yards out but he swung the ball straight at the keeper and Jordan Pickford made an instinctive save.

Anywhere but straight at the keeper and he would have scored his first goal for Liverpool.

However, his overall performance failed to impress the away fans today and they took to Twitter, with one fan saying that he needs to toughen up and another saying he should be loaned out.
