'Unforgivable', 'Off the pace'- Liverpool fans blame fan favourite for draw v Everton

Liverpool fans had to settle for a 1-1 draw with their local rivals Everton on Sunday, and fans were less than impressed with Sadio Mane’s contribution.

Mohamed Salah grabbed the first goal of the game, scoring with a beautiful individual effort in the first-half to put the Reds ahead.

Liverpool fans believed they should have gone 2-0 up before the break, as Mane had an easy chance to square the ball to Salah who would have had an empty net to shoot into.

The Reds ended up being punished for not scoring a second, as Dejan Lovren brought down Dominic Calvert-Lewin to give Everton a penalty late on.

Wayne Rooney converted the penalty to score his eighth league goal of the season and bring the Toffees level.

Fans took to Twitter to slam Mane’s selfish behaviour in the match, with one suggesting he was jealous of Salah and that it had cost them the three points.

Another fan suggested that his failure to pass was unacceptable and that it summed up how poor the striker had been in Sunday’s game.

Jurgen Klopp had fans fuming at his line-up for the game with him resting Philippe Coutinho and Roberto Firmino but some fans believed it was Mane that needed the rest.

One fan believed Mane’s poor performance against the Toffees was due to him being tired and that he was simply off the pace.

The draw with Everton now means that the Reds are one point clear of Arsenal, who could only manage a 1-1 draw with Southampton on Sunday.

The point gained keeps them in fourth, two points off third placed Chelsea who suffered a shock defeat on Saturday to West Ham.
