Liverpool fans on Twitter call for Klopp to axe regular and play in-form star v Palace

By Will Butcher

Liverpool fans have taken to Twitter to try to persuade Jurgen Klopp to pick Daniel Sturridge against Crystal Palace.

The 27-year-old striker is in emphatic form at the moment, following his two goals against Tottenham on Tuesday night in the fourth round of the EFL Cup.

His goals provided Klopp’s side with a safe passage into the quarter-finals, where they have now been drawn against Yorkshire giants Leeds at Anfield, with a place in the semi-finals up for grabs.

Sturridge’s midweek display reminded everyone of his raw, natural ability to find the back of the net after taking his season tally to five for club and country.

Liverpool fans have taken to Twitter to call for the Birmingham-born forward to be included in their starting lineup to face Crystal Palace, which could mean Roberto Firmino dropping to the bench for Saturday’s tea-time kick off.

Such was Sturridge’s impressive performance against Mauricio Pochettino’s side, the former Chelsea striker was named in the EFL Cup Team of the Week alongside teammate Trent Alexander-Arnold.

In his 101 league and cup appearances for the Merseyside giants, Sturridge has scored more than one goal every two games – finding the net 58 times.
