'Very stupid' – Liverpool 23-year-old pulls no punches as he points finger of blame after Palace loss

Emre Can has slammed his team for letting in “two goals from two chances” against Crystal Palace on Sunday, and said it was “stupid” to concede from a set piece after they’d trained for them.
Two goals from former-Reds striker Christian Benteke consigned Jurgen Klopp’s side to their first defeat in seven games after Philippe Coutinho opened the scoring.
Can, a regular in Klopp’s first-team plans, pulled no punches in his assessment and claimed it was a “stupid” mistake which led to the loss.
Liverpool are only three points clear of fifth-placed Manchester United, who have two games in hand.
“We are frustrated and disappointed,” said Can of the defeat, as quoted by the Liverpool Echo.

“We controlled the game. I think we didn’t play too bad but then we conceded two goals from two chances.
“Everyone is very disappointed because we should have won this game. We had the chances.
“It was stupid from us. Again it was a set-piece. We had worked on them in training, we had trained very well.”
Klopp’s men have just four games to play in the Premier League season and know that qualifying for the Champions League is no longer in their hands.
Jose Mourinho’s side travel to fourth-placed Manchester City on Thursday night and a win for either side could see Liverpool fall down to fourth.
A draw would be the ideal result for the Merseysiders as this would see themselves remain in third place, but both of the Manchester clubs would still have played one game less.
Can has made 36 appearances for Liverpool across all competitions this season, scoring four goals and supplying three assists.
In other Liverpool news, fans have urged Klopp to sign this 21-year-old speed machine in the summer.
