'Liverpool have found their new Luis Suarez' - Exclusive: Pundit wowed by 'Amazing' latest signing

Liverpool “have found their new Luis Suarez” in “amazing” goal sensation Diogo Jota.

That is according to ex-Leeds United and Coventry City striker Noel Whelan, speaking exclusively to Football Insider after the recent Portugese signing entered the Anfield record books by becoming the first player in the club’s history to score in his first four home top-flight appearances.

Jota scored the second of Liverpool’s three goals with a magnificent header in their 3-0 demolition of previous leaders Leicester City on Sunday night to extend the remarkable start to his career on Merseyside.

It put the gloss on another menacing all-round display from the 23-year-old snapped up from Wolves late in the last window for £41million rising to a potential £45m.

The latest Liverpool signing could be one of the best.

“Liverpool have found their new Suarez,” Whelan told Football Insider. “That is the best compliment I can pay him, really.

“He doesn’t have Suarez’s temperament, or nasty side, but shares so many of his best attributes.

“Jota’s a huge goal threat, technically brilliant, two-footed, quick and with a low centre of gravity, scores all types of goals, he chases everything, and is a team man, too.

“He is an amazing signing, really, an all-rounder who can play anywhere across the front line. Where’s his best position? I don’t know, we’re still finding out, but credit to Liverpool for signing him.

“He’s a gem and has made an already brilliant attack even more dangerous.”

Jota has now scored in five of his last six Liverpool matches and has an astonishingly productive scoring record of eight goals from 679 minutes of action for the club.

He played on the right side of the attack against Leicester in the absence of the unavailable Mohammed Salah as Jurgen Klopp’s side ended the weekend second in the Premier League table.
