Alan Hutton has claimed Jurgen Klopp committing his long-term future to Liverpool is "bigger than the Mohamed Salah contract situation".

The former Scotland defender, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, admitted the 54-year-old's impact at Anfield has been nothing short of "remarkable".

As confirmed by Liverpool last week (28 April), Klopp has signed a new deal at Anfield that will run until the summer of 2026.

His old terms were set to expire in 2024.

Hutton insisted the manager's new deal is "some of the best news a Liverpool fan could hear".

Hutton told Football Insider's Russell Edge: "I think this is huge, bigger than the Salah contract situation if he was to sign a new one. That's how big it is.

"He has come in and transformed the team. If you look at the turnaround in players, where they're at at this moment in time, they're battling for four trophies.

"For him to be tied down for the foreseeable future, we see the recruitment he's doing, the young players that he's bringing in.

"It's really been remarkable with how they're playing at this moment in time. I think the news coming out that he's going to stay is probably some of the best news of a Liverpool fan could hear."

Klopp joined Liverpool in 2015, replacing Brendan Rodgers in the Anfield dugout.

Liverpool

The German has helped Liverpool win the Premier League, Champions League, League Cup, UEFA Super Cup and the Club World Cup.
