Liverpool have 'Wijnaldum replacement sorted straight away' after reported update - Whelan
Leicester City midfielder Youri Tielemans would be the ‘perfect replacement’ for departed Liverpool midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum, according to Noel Whelan.
The former Leeds striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, insisted Reds stars Sadio Mane and Mo Salah would “benefit” from having the 24-year-old in the side.
As reported by Italian outlet Calciomercato (October 26th), Bayern Munich have joined Liverpool in the race to sign the Belgian.
According to 90Min, Tielemans has rejected the offer of a new contract at Leicester City – and is showing “no inclination to extend” at the King Power Stadium.
The midfielder’s Foxes contract expires in the summer of 2023.
Tielemans wrote himself into Leicester City legend in May when he netted a stunning winner to seal the club’s first FA Cup trophy.

Wijnaldum departed the Merseyside club this summer for Paris Saint-Germain following the expiry of his contract.
Whelan claimed Liverpool would be “building for the future” by bringing the 24-year-old to Anfield.
When asked about the possibility of Tielemans moving to Anfield, Whelan told Football Insider: “That’s the Wijnaldum replacement sorted straight away, isn’t it?
“If they could get Tielemans through the door, he’d add energy, that defensive ability, goals, link-up play, and more.
“I think Salah and Mane would benefit from having him in the side as well. He’d be a perfect replacement for Wijnaldum with the way he plays.
“Look at his age, as well. You’re building for the future by signing him.”
The 47-cap Belgium midfielder has netted 20 goals in 123 games for Leicester.
He signed for the club in 2019 in a deal worth a reported £40million.
