Liverpool set for talks with agent of £50m-rated striker - report

By Danny Wright

Liverpool will hold talks with the agent of Lyon’s Alexandre Lacazette next week, according to a report.

The Express claims that the Reds are keen on the £50m-rated striker, who is also coveted by Arsenal and Manchester United.

Liverpool are reported to not be concerned about United’s interested in the 26-year-old as they don’t believe he is one of Jose Mourinho’s top summer targets.

It is understood that Lacazette was looking for a move to Atletico Madrid but their transfer ban has made an immediate move impossible.

The 10-times France international is one of the hottest-rated strikers in European football at the moment due to his impressive goal scoring record at Lyon over the past few years.

Lacazatte hasn’t slowed down this season and has netted an incredible 37 goals in 45 appearances across all competitions – with 28 coming in 30 Ligue 1 fixtures.

However his side will not be competing in the Champions League next season after a fourth place finish in the French league.

According to the Express, this is crucial to making a deal for Lacazette, who is eager to play in Europe’s most prestigious competition.

Football Insider Verdict

Liverpool could be set for one of the biggest signings in their whole 125 year history if they land Lacazette. He’s a striker that can really lead a team to glory and that’s exactly what Jurgen Klopp needs in his squad. The Frenchman is understood to want Champions League football which is something that Arsenal cannot offer – meaning the Reds could be in pole position to sign him. Lacazette is a proven goal scorer in an ever-improving French league. There are not many traditional strikers in the Liverpool squad and Lacazette will more than fill that void.
