Liverpool star confirms he may leave club after Klopp decision
Liverpool shot-stopper Simon Mignolet is weighing up his options after being dropped by the Reds manager for the FA Cup win over Everton and the victory over Manchester City in the league.
The Daily Mail claims that the keeper, who has lost his place to Loris Karius in net, wanted an explanation for the manager’s rotation policy after finding himself on the bench for a number of fixtures over the festive period.
Klopp himself confirmed after the clash between the Reds and City that he now considered Karius as his number one in goal.
Mignolet has been on the receiving end of a spate of criticism regarding his capability to be the Merseysider’s number one, with many questioning his shot-stopping ability, decision making, and accuracy at clearing his lines.
However the 6ft3in stopper stated that the rotation policy wasn’t “healthy” and warned that he could not “lose any more time.”
“In the Christmas period we had rotated again and I felt that that was not a healthy situation for a keeper,’ Mignolet said in Sporza.
“After all that has happened this season, I know where I am at and the situation has become clearer. Klopp told me honestly and personally in that conversation.
“Of course I am absolutely not satisfied with that, but I must always respect a decision of the coach. I always try to stay quiet and calm. In the past I did come back stronger from such situations.
“But I must of course also think of my own future. The only thing I can do is focus on my training and do my best. I become 30 years old and the World Cup is coming this summer.
“This situation cannot take too long, which is clear. I cannot lose any more time.”

Indeed the 29-year-old Belgium international has been at fault for a number of goals that Klopp’s side have conceded, but he has not been helped by a shaky defensive unit.
Liverpool have been linked with a move for Roma goalie Alisson, but a move during the window looks unlikely, as the Brazilian has admitted he is happy in the Italian capital.
