Liverpool plan to make £100m profit on player sales, Arne Slot’s summer transfer budget revealed
Liverpool will be looking to make around £100million profit on player sales to boost their summer transfer budget.
That is according to former Manchester City financial adviser Stefan Borson, who exclusively told Football Insider he can’t see the Merseyside giants spending more than £250m on new arrivals.
Liverpool spent around £450m on signings last summer, but they have struggled to replicate the form of their title-winning season.
Arne Slot’s side currently sit fifth in the Premier League table, while they have been knocked out of all the cup competitions.
Liverpool are planning to strengthen in the summer window, but they are expected to be more reserved with their spending this time around.

Slot has faced sack pressure following Liverpool’s form in recent months, but reports have suggested he is expected to continue at Anfield next season.
Speaking in a press conference last week, the Dutch manager revealed the Reds’ model means they have to sell to buy players as he plans ahead for his third campaign on Merseyside.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, Borson discussed Liverpool’s plans for the summer transfer window.
“They spent more than £400m last summer,” said Borson.
“They’re not going to do that again without very material sales. You have just got to look and say, ‘Well, who can you sell?’.
“It’s not straightforward to sell players that you no longer want, who have big fees and are on big wages. There’s limited capacity in the market for these sorts of players.”
How much can Liverpool spend this summer?
Borson insisted Slot can have little complaints about the players Liverpool sold last summer following their heavy spending.
“I don’t really know who Slot’s complaining about in terms of who he would rather have kept last summer,” said Borson.
“He didn’t have a choice to keep Alexander-Arnold. He wanted to go. With hindsight, Bayern got a good deal for Diaz, but most people thought that it was a fair price. Nunez was not working and they got maybe £45m back, so that wasn’t a bad deal. I can’t see that Nunez would have made any difference at all this season.
“Maybe Quansah is somebody that they go, ‘Well, if we’d have just kept him a year, with the situation with Konate, then that would have benefited us’, but I’m not sure the complaint really works.
“I wouldn’t say they’re boxed in, but it’s not going to be straightforward to find the right balance of players leaving.
“I can’t see them spending much more than say £250m and trying to bring in another £100m of profit as opposed to gross. I don’t know where the £100m comes from, but that’s probably what they’re going to look to do.”
