Liverpool player ratings vs Everton: Cody Gakpo proves his worth, Alexander Isak completely anonymous
Liverpool snatched a 2-1 win away at Everton on Sunday in the first Merseyside derby at the Hill Dickinson Stadium.
The Reds have been completely dominant over their city rivals in recent years, and they notched their third consecutive victory against their city rivals thanks to goals from Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk.
Salah’s 29th-minute strike saw the visitors infront at half-time, before Beto bundled home to peg them back shortly after the break.
Arne Slot’s side faced plenty of questions in the build-up to the game after their exit from the Champions League in midweek, but they answered them at the weekend, as Van Dijk stepped up to head home the winner in the 10th minute of stoppage time.
Liverpool’s win over the Toffees means that they still have the fifth Champions League spot firmly in their clutches, and with that in mind, Football Insider rates the performances of every single Reds player.

VISIT THE LIVERPOOL MATCH HUBCody Gakpo Liverpool’s biggest threat throughout
Cody Gakpo has faced his fair share of critics at Anfield this season, but he proved his worth to Slot and the team yet again on Sunday.
The Dutchman was a constant thorn in the side of the opponents from the start, as he was by far the most threatening Liverpool player in an attacking sense.
| Stats | Gakpo Totals |
| Accurate Passes | 15/18 (83%) |
| Chances Created | 4 |
| Shots on Target | 3 |
| Successful Dribbles | 1/1 (100%) |
| Defensive Contributions | 3 |
| Duels Won | 3/12 (25%) |
He produced a sumptuous pass to set up Salah for the opening goal, and he almost found the back of the net himself when his looping header was cleared off the goalline by James Tarkowski in the second half.
Most of the Reds’ attacking threat came through Gakpo on the left flank, as he turned in the kind of performance that may have cemented his place in the team until the end of the season.
It was a strong performance from the winger, and one that was worthy of an 8/10 match rating.
Alexander Isak a shadow of himself vs Everton
Alexander Isak’s struggles at Liverpool have been well-publicised since his move from Newcastle for a British record fee last summer, and he failed to make his presence felt again on Sunday.
The Swede is continuing to build up his match fitness after recently returning from a lengthy injury lay-off, and he managed 45 minutes of action for the first time since 9 December against PSG in midweek.
The striker extended himself to over 70 minutes this time around, but he continues to look a shadow of the player who had Premier League defences running scared during his time at St James’ Park.
Isak failed to have any sort of impact on the game at the Hill Dickinson, as he was completely anonymous for Slot’s team before he was ultimately replaced after 72 minutes.
The big-money buy had just nine touches throughout his spell, as he was often left isolated at the top of the pitch and worthy of little more than a 3/10 rating.
