Liverpool source: ‘Huge’ update on Sadio Mane’s future as FSG plan revealed
Liverpool will offer Sadio Mane a contract extension but have no plans to hand him a major pay hike, Football Insider understands.
The Senegal international, who turned 30 last month, has just over 12 months left on his current deal and talks are lined up when the season ends.
A recruitment source has told Football Insider that Mane wants to stay at Anfield and the Liverpool hierarchy, led by owners Fenway Sports Group and manager Jurgen Klopp, want to keep him.
But FSG won’t break the bank to keep Mane and he will not get a “huge” deal that would significantly increase his current package worth nearly £200,000-a-week.
The Boston-based owners’ stance comes as they are braced for delicate negotiations with Mane as well as Mohamed Salah, who is 10 months younger.
Both of the forwards will have to compromise over their cash demands if they are to get the long-term deals they are seeking.

Mane has been linked with Paris Saint-Germain as well as Bayern Munich, as his representatives work to seal the best possible deal for their client.
Mane believes he is deserving of a lucrative new deal on the back of what has arguably been the best season of his Anfield career.
The forward has reacted to the £50million January signing of Luis Diaz by thriving in a new central striker role, and has been equally effective when playing out wide.
He now has 22 goals and five assists from 49 appearances in all competitions this season and is nailed on to start the Champions League final as well as the final Premier League clash against Wolves.
The ex-Southampton star has also excelled on the international stage this year.
He helped Senegal win the African Cup of Nations and qualify for the World Cup.
