Liverpool tipped to axe Luis Diaz after team news pre-Man City - pundit

Kevin Campbell has tipped Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp to start Sadio Mane, Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino against Man City on Sunday.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Arsenal and Everton striker suggested Diogo Jota and Luis Diaz would be named on the bench at the Etihad despite being “the star guys lately.”

Speaking to club media ahead of Tuesday’s win over Benfica (4 April), Jurgen Klopp revealed he has no injury concerns and a full squad available.

Salah, Mane and Diaz were picked to lead the attack at the Estadio da Luz and did so to great effect with the Reds winning 3-1 on the night.

However, Campbell believes Firmino will be given the nod to start at the Etihad on Sunday.

“You can go for any three out of the five,” he told Football Insider‘s Dylan Childs.

“It just depends what Klopp thinks will work best against that City backline.

“He can go with the tried and tested, who are proven or he could play Jota and Diaz who have been the star guys lately. They have both been a revelation.

“Whoever misses out is going to be miffed but it is a squad game at the end of the day. Whoever Klopp chooses, the other two will come on. You need firepower against City, that’s for sure.

“I think he’ll go for the tried and tested though as they know what it takes to win this game.

“All of the chips are on the table now. Whoever wins that game you’d say will win the title. It would be a massive blow to whoever loses.”
