Liverpool tipped to complete '£116m' Salah deal after last 48 hours update - pundit

Mohamed Salah will be a Liverpool player for a “long time”, according to Gabby Agbonlahor.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Aston Villa and England attacker insisted Salah will “definitely” sign a new contract with the club.

The winger told GQ on Tuesday (11 January) he is not asking for “crazy” money and Liverpool know his demands.

As quoted by the Guardian yesterday (12 January), Jurgen Klopp insisted he is not worried about Salah’s situation with his current deal set to expire next summer.

Football Insider reported last year (25 October) Salah wants wages of £500,000-a-week and a contract until 2026.

That would be an outlay of £116million over the course of the deal by the Reds.

“With Mo Salah, he deserves whatever he wants,” Agbonlahor told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley.

“If he wants to be the best-paid player in the Premier League, he deserves it.

“For me, Liverpool probably know Mo Salah is not in rush. They can make it work.

“I do believe Mo Salah will be a Liverpool player for a long time and he will sign a new contract.

“Liverpool know he is not giving them an ultimatum of ‘Get it done by February’. The club and player are on the same wavelength.

“I’m sure they will give him the numbers that make it work.

“It’s relaxed. Mo Salah will love playing for Liverpool, he’ll love playing in the Premier League.

“If the numbers are right he will sign a new contract, definitely.

“Liverpool will make it work, they might just be moving a few things around, seeing how they can structure the contract but they will pay him what he wants.”

In other news, Liverpool are ‘hot’ on signing a 25-year-old after a late-night development and he’s ‘keen’ to move.
