Liverpool tipped to get Konrad Laimer deal 'over the line' after Sky update - pundit

Liverpool could get a deal for RB Leipzig midfielder Konrad Laimer “over the line” in January.

That is the view of former Premier League striker Kevin Campbell, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the possibility of the 25-year-old moving to Anfield.

Jurgen Klopp’s side are in the market for midfield reinforcements ahead of the January transfer window.

According to Sky Sports Germany journalist Florian Plettenburg (1 November), the Reds are interested in signing Laimer.

The Austria international has entered the final 12 months of his contract with RB Leipzig.

There is said to be a feeling that the midfielder will not put pen to paper on a new deal with the Bundesliga club.

Liverpool could negotiate a pre-contract with Laimer from January.

When asked by Football Insider if a cut-price January deal could be on the cards, Campbell said: “That is a deal they could get over the line in January.

“Liverpool have to look at their injury list. It has really hampered them. They cannot rely on certain players to be fit.

“Liverpool fans have been going crazy since the summer about a centre-midfielder. They want more bodies in.

“There is a realisation now that they need more in there. Laimer could be a really good move for them.”

Laimer has made six appearances for RB Leipzig this season.

The centre-midfielder is currently sidelined because of injury.
