Liverpool tipped to sign new Jota after source's 'brilliant' transfer reveal - pundit
Liverpool could sign the new Diogo Jota in West Ham star Jarrod Bowen, according to Kevin Phillips.
The former Sunderland striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, insisted the 25-year-old is a “class above” the likes of Takumi Minamino and Divock Origi.
This site revealed on Thursday (13 January) that Liverpool are keeping close tabs on Bowen, with the Irons attacker open to joining them in the summer.
An Anfield source has told Football Insider that the Reds’ recruitment team are closely monitoring the winger, and were at the London Stadium to run the rule over him once again as West Ham beat Norwich 2-0 on Wednesday.
Phillips drew parallels between the rapid development of Bowen and that of 12-goal Liverpool forward Jota.
“He reminds me a bit of Diogo Jota,” he told Football Insider‘s Dylan Childs.

“Just because of how he’s getting better and better with West Ham just as Jota did with Wolves.
“Jota turned into a quality player up there and went to Liverpool and then took it up another level. Playing with better players has meant he’s improved even more.
“Bowen is doing the same. When you map out his career so far, he’s progressed gradually with some great players at West Ham – and David Moyes has really helped him.
“He’s a confident, technically brilliant player – and he chips in with goals, as well. Putting him into a side with even more quality, he would shine even more.
“For me, he’s a class above the likes of Minamino and Origi, and could be the new Jota.”
Bowen cost West Ham a reported £22m in January 2020.
He has netted eight goals for the Irons this term.
