Liverpool to hand Jordan Henderson new role after critical injury update - pundit
Danny Mills has claimed Liverpool will “tinker” with Jordan Henderson’s position and move him into a defensive midfield role against Chelsea for Saturday’s (14 May) FA Cup final.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Man City and England defender insisted Liverpool have the quality to deal with Fabinho’s injury.
As quoted by BBC Sport on Thursday (12 May), Jurgen Klopp revealed that the 28-year-old is set to miss the FA Cup final with a hamstring injury.
He limped off as Liverpool beat Aston Villa 2-1 on Tuesday (10 May) and was replaced by club captain Henderson.
And Mills has suggested the 31-year-old will once again fulfil that role at Wembley against Chelsea.
He told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley: “I guess you are going to have to tinker with Jordan Henderson and his position within that structure.

“Of course Fabinho will be a miss, he’s an exceptional player who plays a vital role in what Liverpool do.
“But I think they’ve got enough experience in there with the likes of Henderson to cope with it.
“It’s not perfect and it’s not ideal but football very rarely is. It’s very, very rare that you have a full squad of players totally fit and firing at the same time.
“It is what it is and it happens. It happened last year for them. You just have to deal with it, move on and cope.”
Henderson has started three goals and provided seven assists in 53 games across all competitions, 40 of which have been starts.
The England international remains under contract at Anfield until the summer of 2025.
