Revealed: Liverpool to offer £50m+ new deal that FSG sees as priority
Liverpool are preparing to offer Virgil van Dijk a stunning new deal worth more than £50million, Football Insider understands.
The defender, 28, signed a five-and-a-half year agreement when he joined from Southampton for an initial £70million in January 2018.
A Liverpool source has told Football Insider that the club are keen to tie the Dutch colossus further down as they prepare for talks over an improved contract ahead of the summer.
The fresh terms will give him a major hike on the £125,000-a-week basic salary he secured two years ago.
Sources explained Liverpool are set to offer Van Dijk a new five-year contract worth upwards of £150,000-a-week in addition to bonuses that could potentially take it beyond £50m across its entirety.
The centre-back’s current deal is bolstered by various lucrative top-ups, including a £6m bonus on signing, a further £5m loyalty bonus and then a £4m bonus when he has played 150 Liverpool matches.
