Liverpool told to accept Fabinho offer after source's new signing reveal - pundit

Celtic and West Ham legend Frank McAvennie joined the Football Insider stable in June 2020 and has not disappointed with his own brand of unique punditry. He loves talking football almost as much as he loved scoring goals, and still has close links in the dressing room at Parkhead.

Frank McAvennie has told Liverpool to accept an offer for Fabinho this summer as they prepare for three new midfield signings.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former West Ham striker said Jurgen Klopp's midfield needs "shaken up".

The Reds have been heavily criticised for some of the performances from the midfield this season.

The Merseysiders suffered a 1-0 defeat to relegation threatened Bournemouth on Saturday (11 March) despite thrashing third-placed Man United 7-0 last weekend (5 March).

Saturday's defeat also marked the end of Liverpool's five-game clean sheet streak.

Fabinho, 29, has been a staple in Klopp's midfield and has featured in 36 games so far this season.

As quoted by the Athletic (9 March), the Reds boss hailed the midfielder who "looks like the old one again".

McAvennie suggested potential incomings could facilitate Fabinho's exit.

"It depends who comes in," he told Football Insider.

"[Jordan] Henderson is not getting any younger, neither is Fabinho. They miss Thiago [Alcantara], he is a wonderful talent and is a better player than Henderson.

"Henderson has done a wonderful job and he will still continue to do that job but he can't play all the time.

"I do not know if they will keep Fabinho or if they will try and get money for him. I would try and sell him. I think the midfield needs shaken up."
