Alexander Isak will explode if Liverpool exploit his 'main asset'
Liverpool must ensure that they are feeding Alexander Isak with balls into the box and down the channels if they want him at his best.
That is the opinion of experienced former Tottenham, Everton and Aston Villa scout, Bryan King, speaking exclusively to Football Insider.
The 27-year-old has returned to form for the Reds this season so far, scoring four goals in five Premier League games and netting last week for Sweden.
Isak has been sent back to Liverpool with a minor injury, but will hope to be fit to start against Manchester City after the international break.
Should he be declared ready, he will face off against Erling Haaland in a clash of two of the Premier League's most dangerous forwards.
The Man City man scored again on Sunday, making it seven consecutive games across all competitions at club and international level that he has found the net in.
Liverpool must create chances for Alexander Isak like Norway do for Erling Haaland
Norway would ultimately lose 2-1 to Portugal, but they really should have been far ahead.
Haaland had eight shots on goal, and scored one goal from 2.4 expected goals on target (xGOT).
Man City do similar, and there is hope that if Liverpool can start producing in that way for Isak, his numbers could grow dramatically.
"The thing with Isak is his main asset was his pace, and that's what he's got to get back," King told Football Insider.
"It's going to be decided on what kind of service he gets as well. A player like that, he needs his balls played into channels. He needs to get stuff in the box.
"I watched Norway against Portugal last night. They scored first. Haaland equalised. Up to that point, Haaland could have had at least three goals.
"Two headers that were saved and a shot. Now, all three situations, apart from the one he scored, all three situations, and they were big chances.
"Normally, at least two of that four would have gone in, and as they say in football, miss your chances and pay the price."
Isak determined to make an impact
Isak remains the record Premier League signing, joining Liverpool last summer for £125million.
His first year was marred by injury and poor form, but he appears determined to show his worth this season.
"There are many games where I feel like I should and want to contribute more and be more involved. It's nothing strange," Isak said earlier this month.
"Of course you want to do it in all matches, but in some matches you are involved in most of it while in other matches you are involved less. It is the matches where you are not involved as much that you want to change."
"I feel good, and I feel good physically. I’ve been healthy for a while now and have found some consistency. That’s the foundation for me to play good football," he added.
