Liverpool were lucky not to go behind after Alisson's mistake in the first half of their 0-0 draw with Fulham at Anfield on Saturday.

The Reds huffed and puffed but were ultimately held to a goalless draw by the visitors.

Alisson's mistake brought the best chance of the game for the Cottagers, who will have been delighted to have emerged with a point.

Liverpool have drawn three of their opening four games of the season under Andoni Iraola, with their sole win coming away at Ipswich Town.

Clashes against Bournemouth and Manchester City are up next in the Premier League, with early pressure rising on the new manager.

Fulham have also struggled at the start of the season, but will hope Saturday's result can give them a platform to build off.

Ellen White left speechless by Alisson mistake

Liverpool and Iraola will have been pleased to have at least left Anfield with a point, because it could have been a far worse result.

Fulham had applied early pressure, but their big chance came courtesy of a bizarre decision made by Alisson.

Under some pressure, the Brazilian decided to attempt the pass to a clearly marked Ryan Gravenberch. The Dutchman was tackled, with the ball eventually falling to Gonzalo Garcia after Josh King had gone down easily under the challenge of the goalkeeper.

Garcia shot and only the presence of Jeremy Jacquet on the line was not enough to stop him giving Fulham the lead.

Speaking to BBC Live Score, Ellen White said: "I don't even know how to explain it to be honest. He [Alisson] shouldn't be passing it there anyway, Ryan Gravenberch does not want the ball.

"He takes a player out and then it's just absolute carnage. Fulham should have scored, then you've got Jeremy Jacquet on the line who's done brilliantly to prevent a goal."

Liverpool's goalkeeper problem

Alisson remains among the best goalkeepers in the Premier League, but the mistakes have become more common.

There has always been moments of madness with the ball at his feet, but there is little doubting that the Brazilian is a different goalkeeper to the one so dominant for Liverpool in prior years.

The problem for the Reds is that his replacement, Giorgi Mamardashvili, has not shown any sign of taking on the mantle.

The sale of Caoimhin Kelleher, who continues to thrive for Brentford, seems to age more and more poorly.
