Andoni Iraola can reunite with Alex Scott at Liverpool after Curtis Jones latest
Curtis Jones' expected departure from Liverpool should open the door for Andoni Iraola to reunite with Alex Scott.
According to Gazette dello Sport, Inter have had a bid rejected by Liverpool for Jones, with the Reds demanding another £10million on top of their initial offer.
Inter are keen to make the move happen, whilst Jones is searching for increased game time away from Anfied.
New Liverpool manager Iraola would be expected to sign a new midfielder should Jones depart, and the Spaniard should be looking nowhere else than Scott, whom he managed at Bournemouth.
Scott's performances under Iraola earned the 22-year-old recognition from England manager Thomas Tuchel and transfer interest from Manchester United.
Alex Scott would be perfect signing for Andoni Iraola
Bournemouth could demand up to £60m to entertain any bid to let Scott leave this summer, which Liverpool would be able to afford.
The Cherries' new manager, Marco Rose, is sure to want to keep Scott at the club, and Europa League football next season may strengthen their hand.
However, Liverpool can tempt Scott with Champions League football, and Jones' departure would free up a space in the squad.
Scott knows the demands of Iraola's intense and attacking style, and the midfielder could help the Spaniard implement his philosophy on the pitch.
The pressure will be on Iraola quickly if he does not get off to a positive start at Anfield due to the club's failure to compete for silverware this season under former boss Arne Slot.
Andoni Iraola faced with huge Liverpool rebuild
Iraola is set for a busy first summer transfer window at Liverpool, with the club looking to rebuild the squad.
Former Manchester United chief scout Mick Brown told Football Insider that Iraola could need to sign up to seven new players this summer.
The departures of Mohamed Salah, Andy Robertson and Ibrahima Konate have left glaring gaps in the squad, which Iraola needs to fill.
A new centre-back is seen as the highest priority position, with Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez the only experienced players in that position.
The summer transfer window officially opens on June 15th, and Iraola must already be preparing to make some big decisions.
