Bradley Barcola could force through a move to Liverpool as they prepare to step up their interest this summer, sources have told Football Insider.

The 23-year-old has emerged as a top target for Andoni Iraola's side in recent weeks, and they have been keeping tabs on his performances for France at the World Cup.

However, Paris Saint-Germain are extremely reluctant to see the winger leave and are currently planning to block any advances from rival clubs.

As I revealed on the latest edition of Football Insider's Transfer Insider podcast, PSG's stance means the only way a deal could happen is if Barcola pushes for it.

Despite featuring 49 times for PSG last season, the winger remains behind the likes of Ousmane Dembele, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and Desire Doue in the pecking order.

As a result, he could be tempted to join Liverpool in pursuit of more regualr first-team football as a key memeber of a new-look starting XI under Iraola.

Could Liverpool move to sign Bradley Barcola?

Football Insider revealed on 3 July that Liverpool are closely monitoring Barcola's situation at PSG and could make a move despite his club's ongoing reluctance to sell.

Having missed out on a deal to sign their top target Yan Diomande, who has inidcated his preference to join PSG or stay at Leipzig, Barcola is now the Reds' leading target.

However, any deal will rely on the winger's stance and whether he is willing to push for the move to Liverpool this summer despite his club's wishes.

Speaking on the Transfer Insider podcast, I explained: "Liverpool are big admirers of Bradley Barcola. They have had him on their radar for a while, so they will see if they can do a deal.

"It's not going to be easy, PSG are not rushing him out the door, they're claiming he's not for sale, they want to keep him and they're under no real pressure to sell.

"A lot of it will come down to probably the player and his will, if he wants to move in search of regular first team football, if he's not going to get that at the Parc de Princes.

"If he pushes for a move, it could mean Liverpool have a chance and PSG might be willing to let him go, but a lot will depend on how he feels."

Arsenal leapfrog Liverpool in race to sign Bradley Barcola

Who else is in the race to sign Barcola this summer?

Despite their growing interest, Liverpool are not the only club who have been keeping tabs on Barcola recently, as they face competition from rivals for his signature.

Arsenal are also beleieved to be strong admirers of the France international and are prepared to join the race for his signature should he be made available.

Football Insider revealed last month that Arsenal were considered the front-runners for Barcola, with Liverpool assessing other targets, but that situation has changed.

Missing out on their other options has pushed Liverpool towards a deal for Barcola, and while they will face competition from the Premier League winners, they remain hopeful.

Arsenal are in the market for a winger addition this summer as competition for the likes of Bukayo Saka and Grabriel Martinelli, while they prepare to sell Leandro Trossard.
